According to the European Network Against Racism (ENAR), in Italy the 65% of Muslims have experienced episodes of violence and discrimination and women are the most affected.
The cartoonist Takoua Ben Mohamed recounted some of these episodes in an animated movie promoting the campaign “Look beyond the prejudice”, part of the framework of the MEET Project, of which Aisha Project is also a partner. MEET project, which stands for More Equal Europe Together- Preventing islamophobia against women & girls, is a project co-financed by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Program of the European Union and in partnership with the L’Albero della Vita Foundation – Onlus.
Countering religious discrimination, in particular against Muslim women, pushing to look beyond stereotypes: this is the goal of the campaign that the L’Albero della Vita Foundation – onlus has created to raise public awareness and institutions in this regard.
